ChatGPT is a chatbot system developed by Open AI, an artificial intelligence research startup. ChatGPT is based off of the language model GPT 3.5, which utilizes deep learning to create human-like text. The creators of ChatGPT fine-tuned the chatbot to support conversational modeling, allowing the generation of relevant responses in the context of a conversation. Open AI utilizes Reinforcement Learning, a type of Machine Learning in which an agent seeks out and takes action for cumulative reward. This form of Machine Learning allows the agent to learn via trial and error, eventually curating its own actions to complete the task at hand effectively. Reinforcement Learning paired with the human feedback in the chatbot provides the basis for ChatGPT's function.

The Abilities of ChatGPT

ChatGPT serves a variety of purposes to users, in a plethora of different areas. ChatGPT can complete tasks such ranging from composing essays to creating AI Art prompts. As well, ChatGPT can write and debug code in languages such as Python, Javascript, and HTML. Tutoring is also one of ChatGPT's capabilities as a platform. Solving complex calculations and generating social media posts are among ChatGPT's other capabilities.

The Future Ramifications of ChatGPT

With the virtually limitless power of AI such as ChatGPT, questions begin to arise regarding what this means for the future of industries such as education and technology. ChatGPT's capabilities even extend to test taking and completing assignments for students. Problems begin to rise as teachers ponder about the role ChatGPT will play in future classrooms. After ChatGPT was put to the test with a Practice SAT Exam, the bot was able to score in the 52th percentile of scorers. Although not yet perfect, the subsequent potential of ChatGPT is vast, as well as frightening in the perspective of educators. ChatGPT also poses a level of concern for the future of programming and web development. The AI Chatbot is capable of writing code, including that of simple games and websites. The Chatbot is also a valuable tool for debugging already written code, which can assist programmers greatly. From the standpoint of a programmer, ChatGPT is both a teammate and a competitor.
